Personal Interests

Genealogy
My main interest with this hobby is tracing my wife's family tree, the "COLLAR" clan. They hail from East Kent, notably theWhitstable, Faversham and Herne Bay area. For the benefit of non United Kingdom visitors to this page, that is approximately 40 miles due south of London in a beautiful part of the "garden of England", and about ten miles from Canterbury. The tree, now containing well over three hundred names, boasts of smugglers, a Lord, and two past Chairmen of Tesco supermarkets.
Computing
I first became interested in computing back in the days of Clive Sinclair. My earliest purchase was a ZX81 with a wobbly RAM card attached to the back. (Remember those?) I now own several average machines and one monster!. Have a look at my setup.
Titanic
A truly fascinating subject and the theme of my site. The best fiction author could not have written a book with a such an outstanding plot as this. (Although one did come very close!) The biggest and most lavish passenger liner in the world....maiden voyage...the famous...the rich...the brave...the not so brave on board an unsinkable ship sinking.....a race against time by the heroic captain of the nearest ship to save over 2000 souls. What more could you ask for. START YOUR JOURNEY HERE. Would you like to see the passenger list?
Stamp Collecting
I have collected British commemorative stamps since I went to school, trust me, that was a long time ago. I now have a large collection. I am always interested in improving it, so if you have anything to offer.
WWW
I am a newcomer to the Web, so apologies for the basic pages you find here, I am still working on the site. There is so much to absorb and so much to learn, all of which take up a great deal of time not to mention money spent on connection fees. Which neatly brings me on to my pet grouse. While the Americans and no doubt other technically advanced Nations enjoy free local calls and therefore cheap Internet access, we continue to be charged at exorbitant rates. The best we can get from BT is a "Friends and Family" reduction "My best friend" at 20%. Come on BT! Give us a 50% reduction for a nominated Internet line. You won't lose out because everyone would simply double the time they stay connected. You might even make a profit! Stop Press! dated 2/2/99. BT have just announced a further 10% reduction, "Call & Save", which comes into effect when your phone bill reaches £25. This means that "my best friend" nominated as your internet connection can now save you up to 30%. NOTE: You do have to apply, it is not automatic. Read any BT "Update" or phone 0800 004 800. We are getting there slowly!

Short Service History
What was it really like in the RAF? Up till a couple of years ago, I was an aircraft engineering Warrant Officer on a Tornado Squadron. I intend to publish my life story eventually. Here is a quick taster.
